Atlanta Dragway

Last year's event at venerable Atlanta Dragway marked exactly two decades of NHRA national event excitement in the deep south since the first event at the 'old' Atlanta Dragway in 1981. Mike Dunn won Top Fuel for the second time in 2001 with Darrell Gwynn's N.Y. Yankees-backed dragster to move back into the points lead. Frank Pedregon won Funny Car for the only time in 2001, ending an almost two-year winless skein for the 1999 U.S. Nationals winner. Jim Yates also ended a two-year win drought in Pro Stock on three red-lights, and Antron Brown won Pro Stock Bike over Matt Hines.

HOW TO GET THERE: The track is located about 50 miles north of Atlanta on Interstate 85 at U.S. Highway 441. From Atlanta, take I-85 North to Exit 149 (Highway 441). Travel north on Highway 441 to Tanger Boulevard. Go left on Tanger Boulevard, then right on Ridgeway Road, and follow the signs to the track
