Summit Racing Series North Central Division Finals: Fact Sheet

WHAT: Summit Racing Series, where top drivers from NHRA member tracks across the North Central division compete in six classes for individual and team honors. Individual champions will advance to a national run-off at the NHRA Auto Club of Southern California Finals at Pomona Raceway in Calif.

WHERE: Indianapolis Raceway Park, Indianapolis. Track is located 10267 E. US Highway 136, Indianapolis.

WHEN: Friday through Sunday, Sept. 14-16, 2001.

SCHEDULE: Time trials schedule for the Summit Racing Series North Central Division Finals:

FRIDAY, Sept. 14 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Time trials begin at 8 a.m. The VP Racing Fuels Race of Champions will be held at 2 p.m.

SATURDAY, Sept. 15 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Final time trials begin at 8 a.m. The Geddex Dialing for Dollars jackpot race will run during morning time trial sessions. Time trials for High School Eliminator will begin at 11 a.m. and eliminations will begin at 2 p.m.

SUNDAY, Sept. 16 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Jr. Dragster competitors will have two time trials each, beginning at 8 a.m. Eliminations for all classes will begin afterward.

PURSE: The Summit E.T. Racing Series competitors in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle will compete for cash awards of $24,150. The winners in each category will advance to compete against winners from NHRA's other six divisions at the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November. They will each receive $3,500 for advancing to the Finals and the winner in each class will receive an additional $5,000. Participants in the High School and Junior categories compete for trophies.

FEATURES: More than 700 drivers in six racing categories: Super Pro (cars running 7.00 seconds to 11.99 seconds), Pro (10.00-18.99), Sportsman (13.00-19.99), Motorcycles (7.50-15.99), High School (12.00 and slower)
