Race Rock auction offers ultimate collectibles
12/2/2001
Leaving the racetrack after an NHRA event with souvenirs is one thing, but if you've ever dreamed of biting off a bigger piece of drag racing memorabilia then you might just have your chance very soon. Got room for John Force's car in your living room?
Due to the unexpected demise of the Race Rock restaurant in Las Vegas, some of drag racing's most coveted memorabilia available to the highest bidder Jan. 16-20 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Prospective owners can lay claim to one of John Force's 1999 Castrol GTX Funny Cars, Joe Amato's Tenneco Automotive Top Fuel dragster from 1998, and Don "the Snake" Prudhomme's Skoal firesuit, helmet, and gloves.
There is also an extensive list of other auto racing collectables from every form of motorsports available. The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company has signed a deal to auction the Race Rock's memorabilia collection. The 30,000 square foot, two-level restaurant boasted one of the world's most exciting collections of rare racing memorabilia.
The Race Rock Las Vegas collection features more than 150 items, all being sold at No Reserve, ranging from race cars and monster trucks, to drivers suits and racing mementos.
Pieces available include memorabilia from NASCAR Winston Cup Champions Jeff Gordon, Richard Petty, and Dale Earnhardt; Formula 1 World Champions and Grand Prix drivers Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost, Ayton Senna, and Nigel Mansell; CART and IRL pros Mario Andretti, Jacques Villeneuve, and Juan Pablo Montoya; as well as Monster Trucks, Motocross, and powerboats.
The Collection being auctioned represents one of the most extensive and diverse racing memorabilia collections ever offered for sale from drivers that have won every top race event and championship. This will be a once-in-lifetime opportunity to acquire some very rare race memorabilia that may never be available again.
The 31st Annual Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction, presented by Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep, will be held Jan. 16-20 at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Ariz. Updated listing and images of the cars consigned to the auction can be found at www.barrett-jackson.com.
