NHRA announces Rulebook decal, logo changes

12/7/2001

The following replaces the language regarding decal display in the "Points - General" section found in Section 18 of the 2001 Rulebook and the "Decals" paragraph found in Section 20 of the 2001 NHRA Rulebook.
Required NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series logo placement: From top, Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Bike

All vehicles participating in NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events, NHRA Sportsman Drag Racing Series events, invitational, and other events conducted by NHRA must prominently display all applicable logos as required below to be eligible for competition. Logos must be properly displayed to enter a national event, to pass technical inspection, and to make any runs. Logos must continue to be properly displayed at all times during the conduct of any national event. If a run is inadvertently allowed without proper logo usage, points shall be withheld from any contestant who fails to display the logos as required, and all other penalties for rules violations shall also apply, including disqualification of any run, during qualifying or eliminations, made without displaying the logos as required.

In addition, no participant in an NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event may display on his or her driver uniform, team uniform, vehicle, transporter, trailer, or in any other way at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event site any Gatorade name, mark, logo, or other indicia or any non-POWERade isotonic beverage name, mark, logo, or other indicia. Any participant who violates the foregoing rule shall be banned from competition at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event.

Required logo placement is as follows:
Professional-class driver uniform logo placement

Four Professional Categories - Vehicle: Must display the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series logo on both sides of the race vehicle at all times during any national event, using the official decal supplied by NHRA. Any required specialty race logos must also be displayed as designated and supplied by NHRA to be eligible for specialty race points (e.g., Budweiser Shootout).

Four Professional Categories - Driver Uniform: NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series patch must be worn on each Professional-category driver uniform. Required size of patch is 5 inches wide and approximately 1.5 inches tall. NHRA also authorizes and encourages the Series patch to be featured on crewmember uniforms.
Required Sportsman series logo placement: Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car

Sportsman Categories - Vehicles: In all NHRA Sportsman Racing Series categories, the NHRA Sportsman Racing Series logo must be displayed on both sides of the race vehicle at all times during any NHRA Sportsman Racing Series event, including those that occur within NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events. Must use the official decal supplied by NHRA.

On other vehicles, required logo must be in a prominent location somewhere between the front spindle and rear axle, and above the axle centerline, or on the outside of spill plates if spill plate is of a sufficient size. Must use the official decal supplied by NHRA. Any required specialty race logos must also be displayed as designated by NHRA to be eligible for specialty race points (e.g., Jeg's Allstars).
