After hosting the Winston Showdown special event for the last two years, Bristol Dragway will return to the NHRA national event lineup in 2001. Site of the NHRA Springnationals from 1965 to 1967, the spectacular facility was rebuilt by Speedway Motorsports Corp., which also built Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and returned to the NHRA lineup in 1999 when it hosted the inaugural Winston Showdown, which featured a unique Top Fuel versus Funny Car format and had replaced the Winston Invitational as NHRA's all-star event. Bristol Dragway's inaugural national event will feature racing in NHRA's longest-running Professional categories: Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock.

HOW TO GET THERE:
The track is located on Highway 11E in Bristol. From the south, exit Interstate 81 to I-181 to 11E, or use Tennessee exit 69 and take Highway 37 to 11E. From the north, exit I-81 at Virginia exit 3 and take 11E south, or exit I-81 at Virginia Exit 17 and take Virginia 75 south to Tennessee 44 south to US 421 north to Tennessee 394 south (Bristol Beltway)
