12:10 PM  This could prove to be ann interesting round, the track under
bright sunshine today and a lot warmer than these cars have seen all weekend.
Doesn't appear to be a problem for the first pair, Jeter with the better light and
duplicating his qualifying performance for the win by a margin of victory = 0.023
seconds (approximately 7 feet).

 (L) Robert Patrick (Purvis Ford '00 Ford Mustang0.487      8.188 122.70

These two left together, but then Pawuk steadily opened the gap until half
track, where Patrick's Ford ran out of power and slowed.

These two left together with great lights and then it was close all the way,
Jeg with slightly better incremental times for a Margin of victory = 0.026 seconds
(approximately 8 feet).

 (L) Mark Osborne (Mopar Parts '00 Dodge R/T)    0.433      6.975 198.96

The drivers are on their game this round, two more excellent reaction times,
Yates with the advantage at each incremental timer and a Margin of victory = 0.037
seconds (approximately 11 feet).
 (W) Ron Krisher (Eagle One '00 Pontiac Firebird)0.433      6.888 200.08
 (L) Larry Morgan (Raybestos '01 Dodge R/T)      0.488      6.936 198.30

Krisher had the performance edge on paper and didn't take anything for
granted, nailing Morgan to the tree and running away from him to win by a Margin of
victory = 0.103 seconds (approximately 30 feet).  He has lane choice over Yates in
round two.

WJ left first and then Allen had problems and slowed, making it easy for WJ
to advance, with lane choice over Jeg in round two.

Edwards got a big holeshot at the start and then Nobile was quicker to every
timer except the one at the finish line, the Margin of victory = 0.041 seconds
(approximately 12 feet).  Edwards has lane choice against Jeter in round two.

Marnell's reaction time wasn't really that bad, but his car spun the tires
hard on the launch, posting a 1.102 60-foot time, and by then Kurt was long gone.
Kurt wins, with yet another 200 mph run, but loses lane choice to Pawuk in the next
round - though judging from the ETs in both lanes, that's not a big issue
today.

Results for Elimination Round 2

1:34 PM  An uncharacteristic driving error by Jeg sends WJ to the
semifinals.

This was close at the start, but Jeter led all the way, extending his lead as
he went down the track, the Margin of victory = 0.036 seconds (approximately 10
feet).

 (L) Kurt Johnson (AC Delco '01 Chevy Cavalier)  0.449      8.435 116.83

Pawuk got the holeshot and and was quicker to 330 feet, then Kurt's Cavalier
started to wag its tail and Pawuk was home free, earning lane choice against WJ in
the semifinals.  That ends a thirteen-round win streak for Kurt, his last round
loss coming at the second Houston race, last year.

Krisher was uncharacteristically late at the tree and then his Firebird
started to move around in the lane, forcing him to lift.  Yates was on time and
drove right down the groove for a surprisingly easy win, losing lane choice to
jeter in the semifinals.

2:54 PM  A pair of "new look" Grand Ams squared off here and it was a good
drag race, Pawuk away with a very small edge and WJ with the quicker car on the top
end, taking the lead at half track and never giving it up.  Margin of victory =
0.026 seconds (approximately 8 feet).

Jeter took a 0.052 edge at the starting line and then Yates started whittling
it down.  He ran out of racetrack and was unable to erase the advantage.  Jeter
goes to the finals on a holeshot, the margin of victory = 0.039 seconds
(approximately 11 feet).  WJ has lane choice against Jeter in the finals, by 0.02
seconds.

4:07 PM  Coming into this matchup, WJ had 81 national event wins, Jeter none
(in Pro Stock), going 4-8 in Pro Stock Truck final rounds.  Jeter didn't let
disparity that influence him at all, slapping a holeshot on "the Professor" and
then struggling to keep the lead, ahead at every intermediate timer except the one
at the finish line.  The win light came in WJ's lane, the margin of victory = 0.001
seconds (approximately 3 inches).  Great drag race, WJ edging closer to Bob
Glidden's 85-win record by notching his 82nd.
