Historic Pomona Raceway at Fairplex in Pomona, the oldest venue on the NHRA Winston Drag Racing circuit, has been home to NHRA's season opener since 1961 and to the season-ending Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals since 1984. Spurred by sweeping changes in the nitro classes, last year's AutoZone Winternationals featured the then most compact show in NHRA history: 5 hours and 40 minutes from the time the national anthem was sung until Gary Scelzi defeated Tony Schumacher in the Top Fuel final. Joining Scelzi in the winner's circle were Jerry Toliver (Funny Car), Jeg Coughlin Jr. (Pro Stock), and Bob Panella Jr. (Pro Stock Truck).

HOW TO GET THERE:
The track is about 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. From Interstate 10 east, exit Fairplex Drive or White Ave. and go north to the track. From I-10 west, exit Fairplex Drive and go north. The track is about one mile north of the interstate. Arrow Highway provides access from the north.
