Two high-profile Hollywood television personalities have signed on to serve as co-hosts of NHRA Unleashed, which will be featured nationwide on Fox Sports Net in November and December 2010.
Steve Watson, host of HGTV’s Don’t Sweat It, and Sarah Karges, who just finished hosting Brain Rush on Cartoon Network, will lead the half-hour shows produced by Disrupt/ive Studios at the upcoming four NHRA Unleashed events.
Watson, a hobbyist racer and self-described gearhead, noted, “I’m thrilled to be working with Disrupt/ive Studios and the NHRA on this exciting new series. I cannot wait to get out to the tracks, feel the horsepower, and meet America’s greatest grassroots racers at NHRA Unleashed!”
Karges, no stranger to extreme sports and live television events, remarked, “I am excited and thrilled to be part of this series. This show is a perfect fit for my adrenaline-pumped personality, and I am ready to get down and dirty on the NHRA Unleashed racetracks!”
The first NHRA Unleashed event is this weekend, June 11-13 at Atlanta Dragway. Two half-hour shows will be produced from each of the four NHRA Unleashed events. The other events are set for O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis (Aug. 6-8), National Trail Raceway near Columbus, Ohio (Sept. 10-12), and Gainesville Raceway (Nov. 5-7).
NHRA Unleashed will air on Sundays beginning Nov. 7 at 10:30 a.m. as part of the automotive block on Fox Sports Net’s owned and operated regional networks nationwide. The eight-episode television event will conclude the last Sunday of the year, Dec. 26. NHRA Unleashed will air in a minimum of 75 million households through Fox Sports Net’s regions throughout the United States.
The series producer, Disrupt/ive Studios, led by Jack Schaeffer and Stephen Pullin, have produced the popular Pinks, Pinks All-Out, and Pinks All Outtakes shows.
For the first time in television history, NHRA Unleashed will bring to the screen an in-depth look at the outlaw racing classes’ true adrenaline addicts as they pack 2,000 horsepower in a standard production chassis. Each program will take the audience deep into the personal backgrounds of some of NHRA’s most passionate drivers, as hundreds of weekend warriors journey to NHRA Unleashed to win a coveted Wally trophy.
The NHRA Unleashed events also will feature casting auditions for Who Wants to be a Race Car Driver?, a new reality series searching for America’s next great professional race car driver. Interested participants attending the event will be ushered through interviews and on-camera auditions for the new series in development. Those selected for the show will prove that they have the drive, ambition, and desire to become the next great race car driver.
