I’ve learned a few important things over the last few weeks.
No. 1 – (And this wasn’t really a surprise…) What happens when you need to pick up a few tenths on your E.T?….Read on to find out.
No. 2 – How to run a campaign. Vote for me TODAY in Round 1 of Ford Racing’s first-ever Facebook Fans’ Driver of the Year contest, the “Tournament of Ovals!” (Just “like” Ford Racing’s Facebook page, click on the “Tournament of Ovals” on the left-hand side of the page, and vote for me between 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. ET Friday (Dec. 2, 2011). If I win, I advance to Round 2 and I’ll need your votes again!
No. 3 – A turkey fried in peanut oil makes for a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner.
Let’s start with No. 1.
Our Motorcraft/Quick Lane and FordParts.com Ford Mustang Funny Car team really wanted the championship title this year. But little by little (by literally inches) those hopes changed to wanting a Top 5, then hoping for a Top 10 finish. We did, of course, but we’re not happy with No. 7 in the NHRA Full Throttle Series point standings.
So what happens when you’re losing rounds by literally inches? You go testing.
Our team has an abbreviated off-season this year. When you ask a driver about an off-season you’ll usually get a chuckle out of him or her, because “off-season” is something that doesn’t really exist for us. This year, our holiday break will be even shorter – we’re testing at Palm Beach International Raceway not once, but twice. We’ll test Dec. 12-16 this month and for another week in January.
We’ll go through every piece of our Ford Mustang and all of the data we have, aligning ourselves with the other cars on the “One Ford” team to see what we need to do to bring the NHRA Full Throttle Series title back to Ford in 2012.
Moving on to No. 2 – Vote Tasca in the first-ever Ford Racing Fans’ Facebook “Tournament of Ovals!”
Ford Racing thought it would be fun to have a little contest for all of us drivers this month – a bracket eliminations-style tournament that will let fans choose their favorite Ford Racing Driver of 2011. We advance only on fan vote, so check it out and Vote Tasca!
I face Tim Wilkerson in Round 1. Go figure.
No. 3 – We had one great turkey for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday. I love spending time with my family, relaxing and enjoying their company. This year my sister Jaime had the family over at her house and my dad and I helped out with the turkey. For the first time ever, we fried it in peanut oil and let me tell you, that was one good turkey! You have to be safe with those fryers of course, but it was worth it.
We have lots of projects to work on in the next two months. We’ll keep you updated.
Until then, Remember to Vote Tasca!
