Mike Dunn's Norwalk Power Rankings
Tuesday, July 01, 2014

Antron Brown, Tommy Johnson Jr., Jason Line, and Hector Arana Jr. are the top picks in ESPN2 analyst Mike Dunn's Power Rankings heading into the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk.

Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Antron Brown NR
2. Doug Kalitta Even
3. Brittany Force NR
Mike's notes: My formula has Antron and Doug tied, so Antron gets the top spot for his final-round record. Brittany's numbers have been getting better the last three races, and coming off a runner-up, she makes it into the rankings for the second time this season. One to watch is the Al-Anabi race team. They have put a driver in the winner’s circle four of the last five years.
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Tommy Johnson Jr. NR
2. Matt Hagan NR
3. Robert Hight -2
Mike's notes: Tommy is No. 1 because of what that car does in the heat, and now we know it can run in cool conditions. My one to watch is Alexis DeJoria. Not running Friday in Chicago hurt her by not qualifying in the top half. She lost to John Force in the first round when he ran low of eliminations. Alexis' numbers on that run would have beaten anybody on the bottom half except Matt. She still has a good car.
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Jason Line NR
2. Vincent Nobile NR
3. Dave Connolly -2
Mike's notes: I went a little unconventional on this one. Jason had a great car in Chicago, and he has been improving the last few races. Add in the fact that it's his sponsor’s race, and I like his chances. Nobile won Chicago on his driving (not the first time I've said that), and Dave is an Ohio boy, so I like both of them in the rankings. Plus they both have good cars.
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Hector Arana Jr. +1
2. Eddie Krawiec -1
3. Matt Smith Even
Mike's notes: Eddie's bike is just slightly better than Junior’s. I put Hector No. 1 because of momentum. One to watch would be Andrew Hines. He has struggled big time lately, but he has three wins here, so this would be a great place for him to get back on track.
