The Countdown NHRA Full Throttle Series playoffs are no joke.
The pressure is intense. For the first two thirds of the year, you’re so focused on just getting into that top 10 so you can keep your championship hopes alive. Then, before you know it, you’re in Charlotte for the second time of the year and it’s do or go home time.
I’m excited to head to Maple Grove Raceway this week, a track I consider one of my home tracks. The area is really beautiful. Lots of trees around it provide plenty of oxygen to make a lot of horsepower!
Temperatures are supposed to be in the lower 60s. We’ve had so many chances this year to set records. It seems like every other week we’re checking the forecast and seeing optimal conditions ahead. This weekend will be no different. Maybe you’ll even see another run in the threes!
We moved up two places in the point standings in Dallas. We’re hard at work getting ready for Reading, the third of three races in a row I call the “Eastern Swing.” We all run on adrenaline at this time of year.
Our team knows to keep our championship hopes alive we need to win in Reading! Whenever our team has had our backs against the wall we have delivered. A win in Reading is what we’re focused on…
If you’re planning to come out for the race, stop by the Quick Lane display in the midway. I sign autographs at our Ford Motorcraft/Quick Lane display on Fridays and Saturdays at almost every race. I always have company from my ‘One Ford’ teammates John Force, Mike Neff, Robert Hight, Tim Wilkerson and even Courtney and Brittany Force.
I have to say congratulations to John Force, who will be inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame with NASCAR’s Richard Childress and NHRA’s Kenny Bernstein. They made the announcement in Dallas. That’s a pretty cool deal and John’s very deserving.
Believe it or not, we’re almost to Pomona! It always comes so fast.
Wish us luck in Reading! I’m ready to bring a Wally home to my fans and sponsors, Ford, Motorcraft/Quick Lane and FordParts.com.
