Mike Dunn's Indy Power Rankings
Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Tony Schumacher, John Force, Jason Line, and Eddie Krawiec are the top picks in ESPN2 analyst Mike Dunn's Power Rankings heading into the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.

TOP FUEL
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Tony Schumacher +1
2. Doug Kalitta -1
3. Shawn Langdon NR
Mike's notes: It would seem that Tony would be on top based on his record at Indy and I could easily put him there just based on that, but he actually has had the best performing car over the last three races.  Doug is in the number two slot because he has finished most of his races in the runner up spot this year but still has a great car that could get him his first Indy win. Even though Shawn has not peaked in performance yet, this is Indy and we know what Alan Johnson does at this event.

FUNNY CAR
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. John Force Even
2. Matt Hagan +1
3. Robert Hight NR
Mike's notes: John Force Racing has dominated Indy since 2008 but John himself has not won since 2002. He has a car that can win this year. Of the non-Force drivers, Matt Hagan has a good shot of stopping the domination as he has had a very good car lately. Based on the last three races on performance, Robert is not in the top five much less the top three, but his crew chief Mike Neff has tuned the last three Indy winners, Robert last year, and the two before when he was driving and tuning. "Zippy" loves this race!

PRO STOCK
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Jason Line +1
2. Dave Connolly NR
3. Erica Enders-Stevens -2
Mike's notes: Pro Stock does not have the depth of competition  that the fuel classes have this year but it is probably the hardest class to pick the top three since you have a half dozen cars that are very close.  Jason has had good cars in the past but has never won Indy. This year he may have his best chance to get that first Wally since he has had an amazing car the last four races.  Dave Connolly always steps up for this event.  The last four times he has raced here he has three wins and a runner up!  One to watch will be Greg Anderson. He has six wins here and his car is running well.

PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Eddie Krawiec NR
2. Andrew Hines -1
3. Jerry Savoie NR
Mike's notes: Eddie has had the best performing bike the last three races. Of the current drivers, Steve Johnson is the winningest with two Indy trophies! Add in the fact that the Suzukis are starting to show their stuff especially based on the performance we saw at the last race from Savoie, they will definitely be ones to watch.
