Due to the amount of rain Thursday and the wet conditions on the racetrack, Firebird Int'l Raceway has cancelled Friday’s 2010 NAPA Auto Parts National Time Trials testing sessions.

Firebird Vice President Franki Buckman said every effort would be made to ensure testing would be held Saturday.

“If it is dry by noon on Saturday, we’ll take the three to four available hours and run until dusk,” Buckman said. “We’ll do everything we can to ensure the Funny Cars and Top Fuel dragsters run down the track.”

In addition to offering drivers the chance to prepare for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season, the NAPA Auto Parts National Time Trials provides a great opportunity for drivers to get more familiar with the Firebird track prior to the NHRA Arizona Nationals, scheduled for Feb. 19-21.

Gates are scheduled to open at 8 a.m. Saturday. Weather permitting, the first testing session is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday’s first session for Top Fuelers and Funny Cars is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
