NHRA Factory Stock Showdown dates set for 2014
Wednesday, February 12, 2014

Chris Holbrook, far lane, drove his Cobra Jet Mustang to the win in the 2nd annual NHRA Factory Stock Showdown at last year's Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals after defending Indy Pro Stock champion Dave Connolly fouled in the final round in Victor Cagnazzi's COPO Camaro.

The 2014 NHRA Factory Stock Showdown will include stops in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series in Gainesville, Indianapolis, Reading, and Las Vegas. The program, in its third year, will feature three new stops, beginning with the Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville, March 13-16, and ending with the NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Oct. 30-Nov. 2. The second stop on the calendar will be the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, Labor Day weekend, Aug. 27-Sept. 1, where the program was introduced in 2012, and will be followed by the NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway, Oct. 2-5.

The event in Indy highlighted the 2013 series with 27 entries; Chris Holbrook defeated Dave Connolly in the final round with his ’13 Mustang Cobra Jet. The NHRA Factory Stock Showdown was designed to showcase the NHRA Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, Dodge Mopar Challenger Drag Pak, and Chevrolet COPO Camaro.

The competition includes entries from both the FS/A and FS/B Stock eliminator classes with each of the two classes running as a separate category within Stock class eliminations and a winner being crowned in each. The two winners then square off for the NHRA Factory Stock Showdown championship using a three-tenths staggered start. Each of the two class winners will receive the NHRA class Wally, and the runoff winner will be crowned the NHRA Factory Stock Showdown champion.

The two classes have new designations and indexes this year.

FS/A: 451 cid and above, minimum weight 3,200 pounds; all supercharged, 3,500 pounds minimum weight; index 10.10
FS/B: Up to 400 cid, minimum weight 3,250 pounds; 401 to 450 cid (including maximum allowable overbore) minimum weight 3,350 pounds; index 10.40
