Chillen and GrillenThursday, July 18, 2013

It has been a long time since I have updated my blog and for that I am sorry.  I haven’t had a weekend in which I didn’t a race or have race related event since Easter, so quite honestly I haven’t had much to write about.  If you are reading this, I assume you follow me on Twitter @terrymcmillen or Facebook,, so you already know about the two semifinal appearances we have had recently, and when I blog, I like to talk about things that happen away from the race track.

I was fortunate to finally get a weekend off away from my world of drag racing, and I spent it by doing a little Chillen and Grillen to celebrate baby McMillen.  I can’t take credit for that little rhyme, as it was what the actual invitations said, but in all seriousness I did enjoy time with family and friends and great food at our co-ed baby shower.

For those of you that haven’t heard my girlfriend Cori and I are expecting a baby this September, so we decided to celebrate with the people we care most about and it turned out to be a great day.  My good buddy Scott from Allstar Performance and his family volunteered to do all the cooking for the party, and words can’t describe how great the food was.

We had so much fun hanging out with the people we care most about.  With my crew living in different parts of the country, only a couple of them were able to come to the party, but they still managed to be there in spirit.  All of my guys, pitched in and got a Nitro a GoGo diaper bag made by Leeza Diehl, Funny Car driver Jeff Diehl’s wife.  Of course the bag had an alligator, Amalie Oil logo, and my car number on it.  I will tell you what.  The fact that a group of guys was willing to pitch in for a diaper bag, goes to show just how great the guys are that work for me.  I wouldn’t trade any of them.

With my one free weekend behind me, I am off to Denver.  I am excited to see what the western swing has in store for the Amalie Oil, UNOH team.  We have had had some great moments this season and some of the worst moments in my career, but I really feel things are turning around for the team, and I am going to fight as hard as possible to get into the top ten this year, and I have faith that the nine guys behind the car are going to help make that happen!

Please follow me on Twitter between blogs or on Facebook.  We will talk to you soon!
