Mike Dunn's Atlanta NHRA Power Rankings
Wednesday, May 01, 2013

Houston winners Cruz Pedregon in Funny Car and Jason Line in Pro Stock along with Top Fuel runner-up Shawn Langdon top ESPN2 analyst Mike Dunn’s Power Rankings heading into the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta.

Here’s a look at his standings after six events, listing position and improvement or decline from the previous ranking (NR = not previously ranked).

TOP FUEL
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Shawn Langdon +3
2. Doug Kalitta NR
3. Morgan Lucas -2
4. Antron Brown +1
5. Bob Vandergriff Jr. NR
Mike's notes: Vandergriff moves into the rankings for the first time with his win in Houston and is going into his hometown race with momentum. Antron and Doug have both won twice at this event. Tony Schumacher is not in the rankings because he has never won here (this should give him some incentive because he always liked making me look bad when we raced each other!).

FUNNY CAR
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Cruz Pedregon +2
2. Tim Wilkerson +2
3. Ron Capps NR
4. Jack Beckman NR
5. Courtney Force Even
Mike's notes: Capps makes it back in the rankings because his crew chief, Rahn Tobler, has won here the last two years, 2011 with Beckman and last year with Ron (if he would have done a little bit better in Houston, he would have been at the top).

PRO STOCK
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Jason Line NR
2. Jeg Coughlin Jr. NR
3. Mike Edwards -2
4. Greg Anderson NR
5. Shane Gray Even
Mike's notes: The Summit boys run well at their sponsor’s event in Atlanta. Jason has been in the final the last two years, winning in 2011 and losing on a holeshot last year to Greg, who got his fourth Atlanta Wally.
