The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series heads to Thunder Valley, site of Bristol Dragway, for the 12th annual Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers. The qualifying broadcast is Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2, and Sunday’s broadcast of race day starts at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Here’s what viewers at home can expect when they tune in this weekend:
Big teams have dominated the NHRA Top Fuel class the past several seasons, with Don Schumacher Racing and Al-Anabi Racing winning most of the championships. This year it’s different, as the single-car team of Steve Torrence battles with the big boys, having won two of the last three Top Fuel events. Can he challenge for the 2012 Full Throttle championship?
The K&N Horsepower Challenge for Pro Stock racers is just around the corner, and the eighth and final spot in the Challenge gets voted in by NHRA fans. The broadcast will take a look at who’s in and who’s out and who needs your vote. Voting ends this weekend, so go here to vote for your favorite driver.
The Chevrolet Camaro is the newest car model in Pro Stock this season. ESPN will discuss how a new model comes into the class and how the design of the body comes about.
Send your Prestone Ask the Expert questions to Bristol crowd favorite Clay Millican. You can post your questions on NHRA's Facebook page, and one of them will be answered by the Tennessee-based driver.
