Jon Capps to compete in Vegas with Worsham Racing
Wednesday, March 28, 2012

NHRA Funny Car pilot and Las Vegas resident Jon Capps will return to the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series tour behind the wheel of the Worsham Racing Funny Car this weekend at the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Joining Capps for a weekend of racing at his home track will be Recreational Development Co. LLC, a nationally recognized leader in providing design build services, including for many of the notable resort properties that enhance the Vegas skyline.

Capps returns to the seat of the Worsham Racing Funny Car after competing and qualifying at the 2011 NHRA season finale, the 47th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals, where he qualified with a stout 4.165 elapsed time and lost to 2011 NHRA Funny Car world champion Matt Hagan in the opening round. Capps competed at five other NHRA national events in 2011, driving the Biesenbach Inc.-sponsored Funny Car of Paul Smith; he advanced to the semifinals in Dallas.

“The feeling of racing at home, in front of my family, friends, and business partners who helped support my racing endeavors for years, is very hard to describe,” said Capps, who made his debut in the NHRA Funny Car ranks at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2005. “This deal came about honestly at the last minute and incorporated a little bit of luck along the way. I’ve been hitting the pavement hard in creating partnerships that make business sense for all our marketing partners, and this deal is no exception. Thanks to the support from a huge group of supporting marketing partners, we’ll look to build on the luck combined with the skill of the Worsham family this weekend at The Strip.”

The return to competition for Capps at his hometown track is due to a continued partnership with successful San Antonio businessman David Biesenbach, owner of Biesenbach Inc., and the introduction of marketing partner RDC LLC, a Nevada-based full-service design firm that has developed many of the world-renowned properties that highlight the Vegas skyline, such as Wynn Encore, Mandalay Bay, New York-New York, The Venetian, and Monte Carlo.

“RDC LLC have established themselves as the developer of dream resort properties across the globe, and having them onboard as a marketing partner is honestly an honor,” stated Capps. “And with the support from David Biesenbach, John Spar at ReplayXD.com, Jon Cole and the partners at Cole Design & Exhibit, and the boys at CojonesEnergy.com, we’re going to build off our qualifying effort at the end of the season and try to break some hearts in Vegas this weekend.”
