Job opening: Executive director of NHRA Motorsports Museum
Wednesday, April 25, 2012

NHRA is seeking an executive director for the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by Automobile Club of Southern California. This is a key opportunity for a hot rod culture enthusiast to oversee the administrative operations and fundraising efforts of this 28,000-square-foot museum in Southern California’s east San Gabriel Valley.

In addition to managing daily operations and staff, the executive director will identify and solicit major donors (public and private), develop corporate members and sponsors, and manage museum-related projects with an emphasis on special events. In addition, the position is responsible for the overall management of the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion events in Bowling Green, Ky., and Bakersfield, Calif.

The successful candidate will be a creative entrepreneur with five-plus years of senior-level management in a museum or similar institution known for its quality and excellence and have demonstrated ability to plan and operate strategically, build public support, increase membership, monitor and strengthen finances with innovative fundraising opportunities, expand collections, inspire staff, and create successful exhibitions and programming. A background working with a board of directors and the ability to forge strong relationships with a diverse group of peer, community, and business leaders, plus being well-connected and having a strong knowledge of the hot rod culture are musts.

In return, NHRA offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Please send your résumé and salary history to careers17@NHRA.com. For more information, log on to museum.NHRA.com or Jobs@NHRA. E.O.E.
