NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car stars Cruz Pedregon and Ron Capps will race in the 2012 Prelude to the Dream dirt-track race for charity June 6 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The proceeds from the race will benefit Feed the Children, an international, nonprofit relief organization.
“The Prelude is one of the most rewarding things I do every year, and I want to thank Tony Stewart for inviting me back to race again this year,” said Pedregon. “I love being a part of this important charity event, and it’s always a blast to race against the NASCAR guys. This year, they’ve added some World of Outlaws drivers to the field, so it will be even more exciting. I can’t wait for race day so we can raise as much money as we can for the Feed the Children organization.”
Added Capps, "The first couple years, it was just for fun. Don't get me wrong; it's still a lot of fun, but these guys are very serious. We're all racers, and racers want to win every time we strap into a car, but we're mainly going there to help Tony raise money for his charity. It's just fun to hang out with guys from other forms of racing."
Pedregon and Capps will be two of more than 25 world-renowned drivers battling in the dirt, including Stewart and other NASCAR stars, such as Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Newman, Clint Bowyer, Danica Patrick, and Kyle and Kurt Busch.
The Prelude can be watched live, commercial-free on pay-per-view on HBO beginning at 8 p.m. EDT with an immediate replay following. The $24.95 order can be made with any digital cable box or satellite service. You do not need to be an HBO subscriber. For ordering information, log on to PreludeToTheDream.org or HBO.com.
