Rain postpones 58th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals one week

Persistent rains have forced NHRA officials to postpone the 58th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Auto-Plus at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis to Sept. 8-9.
 
“The persistent weather has affected the racing surface, and we have chosen to make the tough decision to postpone the race until next weekend,” said Graham Light, NHRA senior vice president of racing operations. “We are planning to run the remainder of the event next weekend on Saturday and Sunday."

Qualifying for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series categories — Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle — will reopen with two sessions on Saturday, Sept. 8, and eliminations will be on Sunday, Sept. 9. The Funny Car NHRA Traxxas Nitro Shootout, the $100,000 bonus race within a race, will be run on Saturday, Sept. 8.

ESPN2 coverage will air Sunday, Sept. 9, from 3 to 8 p.m. ET. A preview show will air today, Sept. 3, from 3:30 to 4 p.m. ET.

Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by ProCare Rx will also continue qualifying on Saturday, Sept. 8, and the rest of Sportsman eliminations are scheduled for Saturday.

Tickets from Sunday, Sept. 2, will be honored Saturday, Sept. 8. Tickets from Monday. Sept. 3, will be honored Sunday, Sept. 9.
