The busiest month of the yearFriday, January 21, 2011

Happy New Year all my Nitroholics. I hope you all had a great holiday season. It’s been some time since the brothaman was on the NHRA.com blog, but we’re back, and hopefully better and more regular than ever. Things are really heating up in NHRA land. January is probably the busiest month of the year for race teams as we get ready for testing and then the Winternationals. Can you believe NHRA’s 60th season is just 33 days away? It seems like NHRA Golden Anniversary year back in 2001 was just yesterday.

Our Matco Tools team is coming along just nicely. Our new paint scheme looks awesome. We’ve got this chrome paint that looks amazing with our Matco blue and Army black. I have to give it up to Olson Paint & Body for doing a great job on our car. We got a lot of great feedback on our new car on both mine and NHRA’s Facebook pages. I got to tell you, it’s funny reading the fans posts on NHRA’s FB page. I can’t wait to see how the 2011 Matco Tools dragster looks on the race track and that will come real soon. We’re going to smell some nitro in less than two weeks. We start testing on Jan. 31.

Other than working on my new garage at home and at the race shop, I’ve been working out and getting me right and tight. I’m going to be in tip-top shape and ready for Pomona. The brothaman has been playing basketball two nights a week too. Shawn Langdon and Tony Pedregon play with us, and I have to give it up to sportsmen racer Brad Plourd who can ball. The funniest thing happened last Monday when Shawn and Brad were arguing over who was going to guard the brothaman.

I’m actually scooting out of town a little early. My boy Carlo, from Louisiana, and I are heading to Orlando early next week for some RC Boat racing. I’m going to do my best to start the 2011 racing season off on a good note. We’ll have a Toyota Racing photoshoot Jan. 31, and then six days of testing to gear up for the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.

Feb. 3 will be a special day in the Brown household. It’s my 10th wedding anniversary to my beautiful wife, Billie. So, I need to make sure I’m out of the track to make dinner. If you know of any good restaurants in WPB, hit me up on my Facebook fan page: Antron Brown Top Fuel Pilot.

That’s about it for now. Thanks for reading. We’ve posted a few photos of the 2011 Matco Tools dragster, my 2011 firesuit and our 2011 race trailer. Enjoy. I’m going to enjoy a nice, relaxing weekend before I head off to testing and thaw out. With that, it’s time for some love, peace and hair grease, and I’m out like shout.
