Uni-Select’s Auto Service Plus and SAX brands will provide sponsorship of 24-year-old Funny Car driver Blake Alexander for a 12-race 2013 schedule that will begin at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series East Coast opener, the Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals, March 14-17 at Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville.
The Auto Service Plus powered by Auto-Plus Funny Car will compete at 10 NHRA events as well as the legendary Auto-Plus Night Under Fire match race in Norwalk. Gates Automotive, a longtime supporter of Alexander’s racing program, will also provide support at the Houston and Charlotte events in April.
“Auto-Plus is very excited for the 2013 NHRA race program and to be teaming up with Blake Alexander. We know that Blake has worked very hard to get ready for this season, and we are looking forward to start the race season at the Auto-Plus Raceway at the Gatornationals,” said Brent Windom, Uni-Select senior vice president of sales and marketing.
Auto Service Plus is a North American leader in automotive repairs and supplies the customer with its quality repair guarantee, comfortable waiting areas, and believable estimates. Select Auto Xpert pledges to provide an experienced and knowledgeable staff, quality brand-name parts, and the tools and equipment for proper repair and installation.
Gates Auto, Valvoline, Exide Batteries, Monroe Shocks, Standard Motor Products, Pro Jack Race Car Stands, and SPY Optics will return as associate sponsors of Alexander and the Paul Smith Racing team. Joining as a new associate sponsor in 2013 is Wix Filters, an innovator in filtration products for automotive, diesel, agricultural, and industrial applications.
“I’m very excited to continue my partnership with Auto-Plus and Auto Service Plus and look forward to unveiling my and Paul's new program in the coming months. I learned a great deal last year as a Funny Car driver and hope that my experience gained parlays into round-wins. I’m looking forward to putting that experience to use behind the wheel of the Auto Service Plus car starting at the Auto-Plus Raceway,” said Alexander, a recent college graduate.
