Tickets for the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals are now on sale, and fans of the world’s most powerful motorsport will want to secure their seats immediately so they can be a part of the tradition-rich crowning of the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series world champions. And as part of its Nitro Generation theme for the 2012 season, NHRA will again allow kids 12 and younger to be admitted free with a paying adult to the general-admission areas.
The final race of the 2012 season at historic Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, Nov. 8-11, promises to provide more drama and excitement and plenty of 300-mph close finishes as drivers pursue world championship glory. Champions in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle will be honored at the final of six playoff races in the Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship. The race will be televised by ESPN2HD.
In addition to the intense side-by-side racing on the dragstrip, NHRA will bring its season-long Nitro Generation theme to a close by again providing a fitting tribute to the sport’s past. Special NHRA-signature Cacklefests will take place each day during the event in the NHRA Hot Rod Junction. More than 50 vintage dragsters will participate in the Rumble in the Junction Cacklefests and will showcase the raw power of these nostalgic machines. Fans will be able to stand close by as the dragsters roar to life, generating more than 100,000 horsepower in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Many of the sport’s biggest stars will be competing at the season’s final race, including 15-time Funny Car world champion John Force, seven-time Top Fuel world champ Tony Schumacher, two-time Funny Car champ Cruz Pedregon, title hopefuls Antron Brown, Ron Capps, and Allen Johnson, and female superstars Courtney Force, Alexis DeJoria, and Erica Enders.
